FOOD FOR THOUGHT

"Lebanon’s educational system, fragmented in terms of structure, curriculum, language of instruction and cultural emphasis, acts against the socio-political integration of the society; reinforces duplicatory sectarianism, foreign linkage and dependence"

E Pluribus Plura or E Pluribus Unum? - Cultural Pluralism and Social Class in Lebanon, Samih K. Farsoun, 1988

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Since we perfectly realize that our ideological, political, and sectarian differences sometimes justify our negative outlook……What we dream of is a country that can transform its differences into a source of power and cohesion, a country free of selfish, sectarian, and family constraints.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

"We call [those who have various political and ideological doctrines] simple-minded to the extent of being naive, because they see everything from a single point of view and interpret things according to a single concept. In so doing, they seek to summarize everything from one perspective, be it on the social, political, economic or even philosophical level"

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

"Nationalism is a great thing so long as it can be set aside when mankind, and the fate of the world along with it, is at stake"

Lebanon In the World - Future Prospects - Michel Chiha, 1951

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

"Two separate textbooks for each faith were created for each grade with no information about the other religion; actually the writing of a common book for Christian and Muslim students based on common spiritual values was refused by the sects"

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

"It is not enough to be, it is not enough to be free to be what you are. You must also be free to become what your conscience requires you to become in the light of your best knowledge"

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

FOOD FOR THOUGHT
